There are apps for everything these days and wine is no exception. Whether someone is looking for suggestions on new wines to try or needs turn-by-turn directions to the right wine, yes, there is an app for that.

Hello Vino

This app asks questions to help guide the user in selecting the right wine for them. Whether it is to pair with a certain food, for a holiday event or just to help select the right wine for a particular taste, the app can help you with proper pronunciation and also has audio reviews of the wines.

Use this app to pair food already ordered with the perfect wine or vice versa. It can also be used to experiment with new pairings and new wines. By shaking the phone, it will randomly select a pairing. The app was created by a chef and educator from Sonoma Valley and boasts over 20,000 wine pairings.

The Delectable app allows users to upload photos of their wine bottles and it will recognize the lineage and region from which the wine hails. This app can be used to remember what users have tried in the past and the friends, family or associates they tried it with on a certain occasion. The app can also be used to rate or describe wines and connect with other wine enthusiasts. This app is used by wine writers and sommeliers and they can be followed using the app.

This app is user friendly and designed to make wine more accessible. The features include a pronunciation guide, food pairings and trivia. It can be used to discover new wines for the novice wine enthusiast. There is a periodic table of wines that can be used to discover the style of the wine.

Vivino

There are two versions of this app – one is available for free and one costs $4.99. Like Delectable, this app allows users to upload photos of their wine. Doing so will help identify price, rating and reviews from other users. However, once the user rates or wish lists three wines, the app will make recommendations based on those rates. The upgraded version includes ratings, subscriptions and additional information.

The Wine Coach

This app was created by wine author Laurie Forster. It offers her wine picks as well as videos and podcasts. Laurie’s moto is “demystifying wine, one glass at a timeā€¦” and the app is designed for people looking to learn more about wine.

The Wine Ratings Guide

This app is both highly rated and very user-friendly. It has a database of 1 million wines and will not only offer pairing suggestions, but flavor profiles. There is an option to make your own rating and you can view lists from other users.
